LHC's Latest Particle Collisions Find What May Be A New Form Of Matter
    http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2012-11/lhcs-latest-particle-collisions-find-some-unexpected-quantum-weirdness

According to physicists The Large Hadron Collider may have produced new forms of matter through a process known as quantum entanglement. The physicists were smashing together lead ions and protons and observing the shrapnel. Usually this shrapnel files around in all different directions but sometimes they fly away together, in an orderly fashion which is the result of something called the quark-gluon plasma. This roiling soup of particles is the same primordial soup that existed for the first few millionths of a second after the Big Bang. Refining our understanding of how quarks and gluons behave within protons will improve our understanding of the building blocks of all matter, and how it behaved right after the Big Bang.

  4. MICROSOFT'S DIGITS ALLOWS COMPUTER INTERACTION WITH HAND GESTURES

Microsoft’s research lab in Cambridge, UK has developed a new way to interact with the digital world using intuitive hand gestures. “Digits” uses 3 different IR cameras to track the positions of fingers with respect to each other.
One of the applications for this technology includes 3-D special interaction with a mobile device. By assigning gestures to certain functions, the user could conceivably control any aspect of a device. This also allows for vision free control of the device. In example used in Microsoft’s video, they assigned the “thumbs up” to answer an incoming call.
Other applications include sign language interpretation and endless possibilities for gaming. Could this be the new controller for XBox 720? Guess we will have to wait to find out.

  11. After Deal Changes With Zynga, Facebook Could Now Make Its Own Games

By Mike Isaac November 29, 2012 at 2:27 pm PT

    Source: http://allthingsd.com/20121129/after-deal-changes-with-zynga-facebook-could-now-make-its-own-games/

Zynca, the world’s leading provider of social game services, signed a contract with Facebook in May 2010 which includes advertising revenue share deals and an agreement to use Facebook currency in its games.

Yesterday (29 November), both companies revised this contract. The changes include Zynga no longer having to display Facebook advertisements, and Facebook will no longer be the only social platform for Zynga, which means Zynga can now launch games on mobile or its own platform.

A notable change is that from March 2013, Facebook will be allowed to develop its own games. Until now, Facebook has shown no interest in creating games. In fact, Facebook plans to spread the business more evenly to other developers such as Wooga and King. Therefore, Facebook would alienate game-making companies if it started making its own games.

However, the legal message is clear: Facebook can now build its own games.

    10 Tech Predictions For 2013
By Eric Savitz, Forbes Staff, CIO NETWORK, 11/30/2012 @ 11:46AM |11,931 views
    Retrieved from: http://www.forbes.com/sites/ericsavitz/2012/11/30/10-tech-predictions-for-2013-apple-tvs-win-8-flop-and-more/
Talking about the Tech, what will happen in 2013? According to Adnaan Ahmad, the Berenberg Capital Markets technology hardware analyst, here are the 10 predictions for 2013:
    1. Wireless semi industry goes through further consolidation and potential exits. It will be Samsung, Qualcomm and MediaTek; the losers, ST-Ericsson, Renesas, Marvell, Broadcom and Spreadtrum.
    2. Intel licenses ARM’s Cortex technology. The analyst sees this as good news for ARM, but not so good for Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Broadcom, ST-Ericsson and Nvidia.
    3. Samsung goes captive in modems. In Ahmad’s view, that would be good for Samsung (remember, they have capacity to fill assuming they lose Apple’s processor business) but not so good for the likes of Qualcomm, Broadcom, ST-Ericsson, Via and Intel.
    4. Apple launches a MacBook Air with iOS functionality. This would good for ARM, he says, but not so good for Intel or AMD; such a move would likely be accompanied by a shift away from Intel processors in Macs to ARM processors.
    5. Telco infrastructure industry will undergo further restructuring, exits and consolidation. He sees this as positive for the telcos, less so for Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia-Siemens, ZTE and Alcatel- Lucent.
    6. Huawei signs an enterprise distribution agreement with IBM. That would be good for Huawei, not so good for Cisco, Hewlett-Packard and Juniper.
    7. Handset industry sees further exits, M&A and restructuring. The winners/losers here are obvious. Apple and Samsung win. The losers: Research in Motion, Nokia, HTC, LG Electronics, Sony Mobile, Google’s Motorola Mobility unit, Japan’s electronics companies and ZTE.
    8. Apple to launch tailored “mini” iPhone in mid-2013. Winner here is Apple, natch. Losers: Research in Motion, Nokia, HTC, LG Electronics, Google’s Motorola Mobility and Sony.
    9. Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 stutter. That would clearly be bad for Microsoft, Nokia, HTC and PC makers, but good for Apple and Google.
    10. Apple launches smart TVs in the 2013 second half. That would be good for Apple and ARM, not so good for Sony, Sharp, LG, Panasonic, Vizio and other TV makers.

Scientists can spot 'invisible' footprints left by criminals.
    http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/science-technology/science-afoot-new-technology-reveals-1462042
Footprints which may not be visible by naked eyes can now be recovered and traced using a new technology. A group of researchers in Scotland have invented a new chemical which can enhance the invisible footprints that are usually left on floors and clothing. Footwear marks which are made of different contaminants are often left on fabrics which do not reflect the details and patterns clearly. The new technique, however, enables the researchers to find the size and even the brand of the shoes out of the invisible marks. This will be more significant in criminal cases where the police cannot find fingerprint or DNA of the suspects. The technology is applicable for both new and old prints in different climates.

    Nigeria's low-cost tablet computer
Nigeria's Saheed Adepoju is a young man with big dreams. He is the inventor of the Inye, a tablet computer designed for the African market. According to the 29-year-old entrepreneur, his machine's key selling point is its price - $350 (£225) opposed to around $700 for an iPad. He believes that, because of this, there is a big market for it in Nigeria and elsewhere in Africa, particularly amongst students. He is also hoping to sell his tablet - which runs on the Google Android operating system - to the Nigerian government and plans to have at least one computer in each local government."The Inye is a mobile internet device. It gives you access to the internet; it allows you to play media files and watch movies. What we have is an 8-inch device, a device that is half-way between a laptop and a mobile phone," he told the BBC's series African Dream.

Facebook launched photos sync for mobile user.

    http://www.itnews.com/social-media/52156/facebook-rolls-out-photo-sync-android-and-iphone-users

Facebook starts to synchronize a photo taken by mobile phone to social network private albums automatically. The way the system works is you have to turn on your mobile sync than the photo saved on your phone commonly upload for 2GB on Facebook private albums and we can share them and edit them in our Facebook albums later if we want. However, we also can turn sync app off if we don’t want our photo in mobile to upload to Facebook generally. That is our choice. If we are using larger size of our photo then the system will automatically reduce the size and make it as a small version of our photo. You can try it now if you are using the latest version of Facebook app for Android or iPhone. But, as for iPhone, you must run iOS 6 to work for that application.

All over the place, we can hear the rumor that a 3D display on both the iPad 3 and Apple TV. Nintendo fist use the 3Ds tech like that, we see the 3Dscreen without the need to wear glasses. At a recent visit to RSNA which is a medical device convention I was able to see first hand how a TV could display in 3D without the use of glasses. It also allows for mutliple users to watch at the same time. From above two things, we can see the tech is already out there.
But Apple would have to use a whole new tech to actually make it work.. Something like would require more battery life in the iPad 3. You can count on Apple only taking a step further make them pefect.

South Korea Works to Stem Digital Addiction

    http://www.edweek.org/dd/articles/2012/11/28/566709stecskoreadigitalddiction_ap.html

This article discusses how South Korea, a leader in digital technology, is able to foresee growing problems from rising internet and digital technology usage in the country. In a country where 98 percent of homes have access to broadband internet and smartphones, there are concerns which have to be addressed before it is too late. South Korea does provide support to online gaming addiction but an average elementary school child uses their smartphone for nearly 8 hours a day. The society is shifting towards a digital lifestyle but red flags are up everywhere. Teachers are concerned that if a child is not taught how to use technology positively the impact is dangerous. The children are unable to control their impulses because they have everything with them at the touch of their fingertips. South Korea's pride on being a technological leader will have to face and deal with this overwhelming response to how technology has affected their children.
